People clappingIf you have never attended a Toastmasters meeting before, you will be wondering what to expect. Although a Toastmaster from one Toastmasters club will recognize a meeting from another Toastmasters club, each club runs its meetings with a unique flavour.

At Parliament Hill Toastmasters, our meetings typically use the following agenda

  •  6:30 PM — Call to Order and Welcome
    • Opening Remarks by the Meeting Chair
    • Word of the week
    • Introductions
    • Toast
    • Story / Moment of Humour

  • 6:50 PM — Introduction of the Toastmaster
    • Introduction of the Roles
      • General Evaluator
      • Timer
      • Grammarian
      • Quiz Master
      • VP Monitor / Ah Counter
      • Fines Master

  • 7:00 PM — Introduction of the Table Topics Master
    • Table Topics - participants speak for 1 to 2 minutes each.

  • 7:20 PM - BREAK

  • 7:30 PM - Prepared Speeches - speakers generally speak for 5 - 7 minutes or 8 - 10 minutes.
